Mary of Burgundy (1482)

Mary was the daughter - and only child - of Charles the Rash, Duke of Burgendy. The latter was killed at the Battle of Nancy when Mary was not yet twenty years of age and she suceeded to her father's vast dominions: the Duchy of Burgundy, the Kingdom of Burgundy and the majority of the low countries. She married Archduke Maximillian of Austria later that year. She was killed at 25 while out falconing with her husband, having been thrown from her horse, which fell on top of her .

Tombs of Mary and her father, Charles the Rash
(Charles the Rash is sometimes referred to as Charles the Bold; Philip the Bold was his great grandfather)
